MONDAY MESSAGE – II CORINTHIANS 4:18

Recently, I applied to be a guest blogger for a site that I already participate in. One of the questions asked “What do you get passionate about?” Ummmmmm,  really?  What do I not get passionate about? Outside  — riding motorcycles, camping, playing volleyball, running, gardening. Inside – cooking, crocheting, playing games- okay, that ends the inside list. Bible study, God’s Word.  Fact is, if I remotely like it, I am pretty passionate about it.

And, I love finding gems in God’s  Word. There is no way to remember having read most of them, even when  you make reading through the Bible a priority.

This weeks verse is one of those gems. It is probably at least vaguely familiar to you.  If it isn’t, I pray you find hope in it this week.  As we enter into the holiday season, many are looking for hope.  They don’t know where to look. The real meaning and purpose  of this time of  year directs us to our hope. Our hope rests  in Jesus Christ.

The uncertainty of our nation is teaching us to not trust in man.  Even though the current economic situation, even the government shut-down of a couple of months ago, was a devastating blow to so many, I am thankful for it.  During these times, I am reminded that I don’t put my hope in today or man.

There is a hymn we sing in church “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly trust on Jesus’ name”.  Powerful song. Do  you trust Him?

If you are struggling today, I pray that you will find hope in II Corinthians 4:18 –
